The Kingdoms of Hueco Mundo (WIP) Empty The Kingdoms of Hueco Mundo (WIP)

THE HOLLOW KINGDOMS

Hollows are a species that function with very few ground rules beyond the simple axiom "might is right". Being the most powerful being in an area is all it really takes to establish dominion over a region as a Hollow, putting your flag in the ground over a territory is made a whole lot easier after-all if no one can dare to contest you for it. It is this unique social situation, this unique dynamic of power that is held solely within Hueco Mundo that has propped up the regional hierarchy we now know as "Dominions." Dominions are regional territories, kingdoms that are presided over by one or more powerful Hollows that keep the rest in line, and keep any unwanted visitors out. They each function as unique biomes, each possessing their own distinct geographic and political qualities that allows for one to tell them apart from one another.

The Owners of Dominion

Hollows as a whole tend to fight over roughly 6 dominions which are for the most part already established. While some of these dominions are often up for grabs, switching hands with great frequency there are others which have been held with great stability for years. The dominions themselves are often a reflection of their most powerful residents, chiefly the king who runs them. To be a king, one must be at least 1-3/Captain level so that their claim can go, for the most part, uncontested by other Hollows at large.

Kingdom 1: The Hallowed Halls of Las Noches

The Kingdom of Northern Hueco Mundo, ruled by Graven, is the oldest currently-standing Kingdom, and one of the original few. Hollows present are capable of living remarkably normal lives, at least for their kind, due to the excessive amount of reishi saturating the air. Buildings tend to be made out of crystals and ice, and while the temperature often lags far below 0*F, those with high spiritual power tend not to notice much beyond the mist caused by their breath.

The castle itself sits on a mountain, giving it a fantastic view of the territory below. It is full of art and pieces of human history, a private collection owned by Graven himself. The reishi in the interior is densest due to the presence of the King, as his reiatsu saturating the surrounding area for countless years is what ultimately allows for the relatively calm atmosphere. The place itself is well-decorated and pleasant, but one can't get over the sensation that it feels akin to the tomb of an ancient king.

Kingdom 2: Tartarus

This is a realm that has long been under the rule of the Arrancar Rhydderch Skolopender. the majority of the area consists of rocky ravines and forests that have been eternally burning ever since Rhydderch carved the territory out for himself. The forest serve as hunting grounds for stronger hollows and are a deathtrap for the unprepared. The furthest reaches of this realm consistent of rocky cliffs and fjords overlooking an unmoving sea of grey.

At the edge of these lands along a rocky cliff side stands The Black Gate, a massive fortress modeled after a modern prison, though it appears fortified for wartime. As such shares characteristics of both a prison and a military base, including training grounds, offices, barracks, and of course several cell blocks designed for hollows and shinigami alike. The nastiest hollows both patrol this area, and are created here by Rhydderch himself.

Kingdom 3: Montañas Vacías

Montañas Vacías are an area on the southern edge of the Hueco Mundo’s deserts. However, those mountains are just the tip of the Iceberg for this kingdom, literally. Inside and under the mountains lie a series of changing tunnels and passageways. These tunnels are constantly being moved and changed by weaker hollows, arrancars, and drones. While some entities live outside the mountains, those who can thrive in the chaotic environment and can appease its ruler are considered its true residence. The entrance into the Mountains, like the tunnels, are too ever changing though there are a few Arrancar who are incharge of keeping track of their locations and being guides for more important entities.

Once inside, there are rooms filled with valuables belonging to the ruler and other valuable objects are mounted along the tunnel walls. These displays are the only clue to the location of the ruler as she centers her quarters in the middle in areas with the greatest density of these displays. As one goes deeper into the mountains, they will discover that the reiatsu becomes denser and thicker thus encouraging stronger entities to reside within the kingdom.

Kingdom 4: The Forest of Menos

This is an area below the surface of Hueco Mundo's desert where the average Hollow hides from the Arrancar. It is located to the east within Hueco Mundo, and is enveloped with low level menos and hollows alongside some brighter Hollows who stuck around for the easy-pickings. Selica is the queen of this forest, spending her spare time further adding to the foliage within and pretty much ignoring any and all political/social rule so long as she is left well enough alone.

As you head deeper into the foliage within this forest you may notice a few things, chief among them is that this biome has attracted forest-specific Hollows to the area who have continued to prosper and populate the canopy below. As you head deeper inside, you may even begin to notice some spider webs and holes in the ground, all derived from the fifth kingdom of Hueco Mundo which is located underground.

Kingdom 5: The Spider Den

The Spider Den is home to one of the oldest Hollows in Hueco Mundo, Nakita Arachne. The Den is home to many of her offspring, spider-like Hollows which burrow tunnels throughout the grounds under the Menos Forest, having long since created their own landscapes and society underneath. Webs hang from every corner of this underground corridor which stretches for miles, thousands upon thousands of spiders and spiderlings call this place their home with various functions and purposes within this construct.

As far as social structure in the Spider Den there is very little to speak of. The spider hollows themselves are very altruistic in nature, working like an ant-colony to fulfill the whims of their queen Nakita. Anyone who enters the den needs to be specially approved by Nakita, or they are subject to attack by every Hollow in the den, a fate that sentences all but the strongest to death almost instantaneously. What the spider den lacks in raw power, it more than makes up for in numbers. Go at your own peril.

Kingdom 6: The Silent Sands

In Hueco Mundo away from the reaches of voices and located in the far east of the white desert. Lie a section of weary and disturbed sands. A place where only the stupid dare to tread and strong dare to challenge. This grey and off putting section of sands is known as the Sands of Silence. Unnaturally quiet, desolate, sterile and lacking the typical lure of hollows, it stands as a feared Kingdom not only for its disturbing nature but also the unnatural thing that resides deep beneath its surface.

Buried beneath you will find monoliths and spires made of metal and constructed to hold boundless tombs and catacombs beneath. However these constructs are merely asleep and when stirred to life glow with viridian energy and rise only to reveal the grandeur of their architecture and technological prowess. These masses of constructs are not left without defense and are often patrolled by sculking hollows who have been converted into terrifying machines of death. Their cold and deformed bodies a mixture of plating and wires.

Down in the cold depths of the central monoliths lies the tombs of which Nubkherekh’s factories and workshops lie, as well as a throne room built for long slumber. The walls are engraved with glowing symbols and even to the smallest detail are these symbols etched like puzzle pieces across the trim of the flooring and ceiling.

Clean and sterile just like the surface, only those hollows that live beneath have been completed. Taking on the form of robotic skeletons do they silently patrol and watch over the the grand monoliths of the Sands of Silence.
