Incarceration and Erasion
The Containment Unit are often seen as dangerous and meticulous individuals and regarded with a fear that seems to fester the more that rumors spread about the Unit's hidden facilities. The Containment Unit are tasked with imprisoning and containing those from the lowliest of thugs to the most dangerous of individuals. The Containment Unit's members operate beside the Gotei and to an extent they do follow orders from the Captain Commander. However the Containment Unit's real objective above all else is the facilities in which they reside.
Rumor's are quite a powerful thing and often do they make the Containment Unit seem worse than it appears, however these rumors give too much credit for the in-human conditions upon which they operate. Above the surface of the Gotei, the Facility presents itself as a tower which was built upon the old maggots nest. It stands as a pinnacle of fear and authority over the residents of the Soul Society. Deep underground however, the Facility presents itself as a Hive Super-Structure. The Hive Complex is confusing and full of no abundance of defenses to keep those imprisoned deep below the structure's mass of walls and corridors.
The Containment Unit’s base of operations has a clear system to mark levels of sectors. The deeper you go, the less chance you have of ever getting out. The Tower and Hive are marked as such.
- Sectors:
Sector 5 - The top of the tower, where those with minor offences are held. Time is based on the individual sent to this sector. However this Sector is very comfortable and is fully based on the reforming of these low offenders. This Sector is only watched over and maintained by the Operator’s.
Sector 4 - The bottom of the tower, where those with slightly worse than minor offenses are held. Time is based on the individual sent to this Sector. This sector is more restricted than those at the top of the tower, but at least meals and social interaction are permitted between offenders. This Sector is watched over and maintained by a Lieutenant-Operator and his Operator’s.
Sector 3 - This is the top of the Hive, where those who possess capable abilities are held. Time is based on the individual sent to this sector. This Sector keeps individuals usually in pairs, and gives hardly any opportunity to interact. Meals are simple and physical activities are few and far between. This Sector is watched over and maintained by a Lieutenant-Operator and his Operator’s.
Sector 2 - This is the middle of the Hive, where those who possess capabilities similar to that of a Vice-Captain are held. Time is based on the individual sent to this Sector, so you better hold hope.. This Sector keeps individuals in lone cells, with basically little interaction apart from constant routine checks. The meals are enough for a full stomach, but don’t expect anything great. This Sector is watched over and maintained by a Lieutenant-Operator and his Operator’s.
Sector 1 - This is the bottom of the Hive, where those who possess capabilities similar to that of a Captain are held. Time is based on the individual sent to this Sector, but things are looking pretty grim. This Sector is made to provide only one meal a day, no interaction with anyone, and limited movement. The individual is confined in special chains, straps, and seals. All of which are designed to prevent escape. At least there’s lights and you can talk to yourself. This Sector is watched over and maintained by the Lieutenant-Commander and his Operator’s. On occasion however the Warden-Commander will make an appearance.
Sector 0 - This is the absolute depths of the Hive, where those who possess capabilities above that of a Captain are held. Time based in this Sector is deemed forever, unless you’re given redemption. This sector provides absolutely no special treatments. Your entire body is restrained in special chains, straps, and seals that practically glue you to the middle of the room. Your mouth is restrained to prevent speech, you get absolutely no light, and no sound except your breathing and muffled yells and screams. You are watched day and night and no instance of your existence is designed to be pleasant. This Sector is watched over and maintained by the Warden-Commander and his Elite Operator’s. Upon a simple whim your execution could be around the corner, and no one would ever know. Helpless against death, you would be claimed without resistance.
The Containment Unit's operations are often close in hand with the Second-Division and Sixth-Division, as the Second-Division and Sixth-Division do help operate the surface facilities of the Containment Unit but ever so slightly. However the lower facilities are purely operated by the Containment Unit's members. These facilities are so secretive that only a handful of people truly know what operations happen deep within the Hive.
The Containment Unit’s Operators are fully committed to their job and show a pure respect towards their superiors. They conduct their work with grace and without little vocal interaction, each understanding their role clearly. They appear as phantoms during operations and give no prisoners any form of interaction, apart from constant and routined checks. Finding yourself on the other end of their mission would be the worst day of your life. It isn’t uncommon to find the Containment Unit’s Operators proceeding to take targets out of the hands of the Second and Sixth Divisions respectively. However, Mingling between them is non-existent.
The Containment Unit's members often have defining uniforms, strict clothing and uniform enforcement for the majority of its Operators and to a little extent those in Command.
- Uniform:
The Warden-Commander is always shown wearing long pure white banners that drape down both their shoulders to their feet, and are always draping down the front of the body. The Warden-Commander's symbol is shown at the top of the Banners just where they leave the shoulder. They are shoulder width and have platinum blue bands along the entire edge. A unique trait about the Warden-Commander’s Banners is that they are connected at the top of the collar with an equal width strip of Banner. This Banner just below the collar has the Warden-Commander’s symbol embroidered in platinum blue. Other than this there are no other clothing requirements. All personnel however are encouraged to wear the full uniform, which stems from the Operator’s Uniform. The only defining difference is that the uniform’s trim is platinum blue, and the Mask is platinum.
The Lieutenant-Commander is always shown wearing long pure white banners that drape down both their shoulders to their feet, and are always draping down the front of the body. The Lieutenant-Commander's symbol is shown at the top of the Banners just where they leave the shoulder. They are shoulder width and have gold bands along the entire edge. Other than this there are no other clothing requirements. All personnel however are encouraged to wear the full uniform, which stems from the Operator’s Uniform. The only defining difference is that the uniform’s trim is gold, and the Mask is gold.
The Lieutenant-Operator’s are always shown wearing long pure white banners that drape down both their shoulders to their hips, and are always draping down the front of the body. The Lieutenant-Operator's symbol is shown at the top of the Banners just where they leave the shoulder. They are shoulder width and have silver bands along the entire edge. Other than this there are no other clothing requirements. All personnel however are encouraged to wear the full uniform, which stems from the Operator’s Uniform. The only defining difference is that the uniform’s trim is silver, and the Mask is silver.
Unlike other ranks, the Operator’s uniform is a full requirement. They possess a pure white Trench Coat which goes down ankle length, black trousers, pure white boots that come up just halfway to the knee, white tact-gloves, a pure white smooth balaclava, then finally a pure white faceless mask that only possesses holes for the eyes. The Operator’s are also always shown wearing a singular long pure white banner that drapes down either one of their shoulders to their hip, and is always draping down the front of the body. The Operator's symbol is shown at the top of the Banners just where they leave the shoulder.
Providing a fear unlike any other, the Containment Unit's Warden-Commander Ishii Jaken’na Kokoro is cold and merciless. He operates with no risks and no chances. He is Incredibly strict and based on keeping order by any means necessary. Because of the nature of the Containment Unit's purpose Ishii Jaken’na Kokoro conducts himself in a very grey area, leaving himself untouched by loopholes in laws. It is not above nor below his operation standard to provide any means deemed necessary in his eyes to keep those who deserve imprisonment contained forever, or possibly executed with no one’s knowing.
