SHIKAI

Appearance: The blade straightens and becomes blood red, the tsuba becomes an intricate flower petal design that crawls up the blade a few inches. It gains a long red ribbon that flows from the bottom of the hilt which wraps around his arm.
Abilities: Swinging of his blade causes pollen to scatter around the battlefield as a red mist, this is a permanently active effect so long as his zanpakuto is released and is critical to the success of all other facets of the release however it is a very delicate material, being suspectible to quite a lot of different counters such as being burnt away, waterlogged, blown away or simply smothered by higher spiritual power.
